Better late than never...Lost Theory-Part II-Things We Have Only Seen a Glimpse of

Lost Theory – Part II – Things We Have Only Seen A Glimpse Of

Introduction:
This is Part II of my three part Lost theory. Some of the things I will mention, you may believe are known. What I write may change some of your perspective.

Glimpses - Pertaining to My Theory

Let me begin by thanking everyone involved in bringing Science Fiction back to prime time. The Science Fiction genre is immersed within a character driven drama, and clues are hidden all throughout the series, making fans rabid.

All the characters on the island are struggling with their pasts. In some ways, they are truly facing their demons. Each character has their own secrets, and in some cases, has confided in someone else on the island. There is a common theme regarding fathers in this series.

There are many things that we have seen glimpses of…ghosts, time travel, pregnancy issues, dreams. As with the characters, everything is intertwined…we just need to find the common thread.

We know that Mrs Hawking stressed to Desmond that things have a way of “course-correcting”. This leads into my Part III, so I won’t go into any detail on this one here.

We again, need to go back to the beginning. At least the beginning for US.

We begin seeing a close-up of Jack Shepard’s eye. It is unknown what is reflected in his eye, but I do believe Jack was placed there by it before he regained consciousness.

Not only did this episode begin with a close-up of Jack’s eye, but many have begun in this manner. I was told at an early age, that the eye is the window to your soul. We are seeing something significant-but not any real explanation.

I have also come to believe that Kate was not on the beach. She is not seen when the rest of the survivors are running from the plane after the crash.

This alone is very important. Why aren’t they on the beach? There are clues that the smoke monster is reflected in Jacks eyes. Is that how he got there? We have been led to believe that the smoke monster yanked the pilot out, pulled Locke thru the jungle, and killed Eko.

Many references to literature can be noted when watching Lost. Specifically, the book, Alice in Wonderland-Through the Looking Glass. My observation with TTLG is that once Charlie flipped that switch, it was as if the characters on the island changed personalities.

The biggest observation of this is when Sawyer and Jack are at the helicopter in Season 4s finale, Sawyer is concerned for Hugo (no nickname) and Jack says the SOB. You also see Kate change from being completely on the run, never settling down become a mother to someone else’s child. There are many more if you are looking for this.

As promised....Lost theory-Part I - What We Know

Lost Theory – Part I - What We Know

Introduction:
The fans have been told by Damon and Carlton that clues are found in the Pilot episode. Most people who watch Lost are not casual watchers…we are rabid! Many fans have watched Seasons 1 – 4 repeatedly to figure out what is going on with the Losties. Even though I came late to Lost, I count myself among the rabid fans.

After reading many theories that you would need a scientific degree to understand….I thought I would give my theory a try.

I would like to stress that my theory has NOTHING to do with proving our Losties were not on the plane. In fact, you’ll see why they all have to be on the plane and why Jack cannot get back to the island by without every one of the Oceanic 6.

My theory is in three parts: What We Know, Things We Have Only Seen a Glimpse Of, and Groundhogs?

What We Know - Pertaining to My Theory

Let me start at the beginning:
We start out being introduced to Dr. Jack Shepard, a spinal surgeon. We first see Jack lying in the jungle being woke up by Vincent-Walt’s dog. Next to him we see a green “baton” (similar to Ben’s when we see him lying in the desert.) as well as a flashlight. We do not see him in possession of these items on the airplane. Notice that Jack is not among the rest of the survivors on the beach.

You should also note that Jack has taken a couple flying lessons, but it wasn’t for him. We see that Cindy, the flight attendant who later lives amongst the “Others”, gives him an extra bottle of liquor, to which Jack responds, that it is against several FAA regulations. It is plausible that Cindy has a hidden agenda when it comes to giving Jack the liquor and then being suspicious of Charlie.

After tons of drama and action, with those on the beach being rescued from immediate peril, Jack attempts to stitch himself up, when he sees Kate. Notice that Kate was not on the beach, nor was she walking from it. Kate assists Jack by sewing him up. Is it a coincidence that Jack had those bottles?

Jack, Kate and Charlie locate the transceiver in the cockpit. They speak to the pilot before the smoke monster yanks him out of the wreckage. It seems as if Kate “knows” what the smoke monster is capable of. She later asks Charlie-“Did you see it?” and she is completely terror stricken.

Charlie Pace went with Jack and Kate because he almost threw away his drugs while in the bathroom. He is going to see if they are still there.

Part of my theory centers around the importance of Charlie Pace. Desmond informed Charlie many times that he was going to die. While watching from the beginning knowing what I know, it seems as if death is looking for Charlie ever since the flight itself.

It seems odd to me that Cindy is suspicious of Charlie on the plane. Granted, what he was doing was annoying, but not reason enough to chase someone through a plane. Since Cindy later turns up with the “Others”, it is plausible that Cindy was trying to get Charlie in the section of the plane that would have no survivors. In fact, Charlie almost dies on the beach from flying plane debris.

On the island, Charlie befriends Claire Littleton, a single-but pregnant woman. Claire gets kidnapped by the “Others” (Ethan) and Charlie is left hanging in the woods.

While watching that particular episode, I was left wondering why Jack and Kate are so upset when they find Charlie. I know it may seem a little heartless, but the Losties just met Charlie….why did it upset them so much? Even upon watching these episodes repeatedly, this reaction does not seem normal. Do they know how important he is?

Charlie also befriends Hurley. There are many things I still haven’t figured out about Hurley’s story. We know that he feels responsible for a deck collapse and spent some time at Santa Rosa Mental Institute. Libby, a survivor of the tail-section, also was seen at Santa Rosa. We know that after the Oceanic 6 get off the island, Hurley sees Charlie and ends up back at Santa Rosa.

Santa Rosa also pays a role in John Locke’s life. His mother, Emily, is said to have been a patient. John is healed upon the crash of Oceanic 815. He becomes someone the Losties can count on, even though his tactics are scrutinized and he eventually loses their trust. We see several changes in John Locke, and the most recent change is becoming the leader of the “Others”. John Locke will become central to the island’s survival.

As we all know, everything we see on Lost has a purpose…fans were perplexed when introduced to Nikki and Paulo. I believe that the reason for Nikki and Paulo are to really introduce us to the Medusa spider. This spider is known to render its victims paralyzed for a period of time. I also believe that John Locke (Jeremy Betham) has been bitten by this spider in order to convince the Oceanic Six into returning to the Island.

While I cannot ascertain whether or not my final thought is complete or even Lost cannon-it should be noted that there is a resemblance with Bentham’s casket and Christian’s casket. There are also some odd similarities between “White Rabbit” and our Season 4 Finale, “There’s No Place Like Home”. Go ahead watch them again.

Ill see you in Part II – Glimpses.

But....you dont look sick

First, please take a moment to read the "Spoon Theory"
It is an amazing explanation of lupus.

This is a pretty personal blog entry. Those of you who know me, may not be aware of all the struggles someone diagnosed with lupus deals with. Some of you may have even uttered the statements listed below to me...maybe you were not aware of how hurtful they are-this is just an explanation.

Some of you know that I am a "go-getter" and "to the hilt" organized. To many, these traits do not go with someone you think has lupus.

People with a diagnosis of an auto-immune disease go thru many different stages before they get to acceptance. Most of this process includes a "looking at self" aspect. We all get thru this process at our speed, and I might add, with our own attitudes.

Most of the looking at self process is looking at where your priorities are and eliminating or changing what isnt a priority. This priority list changes depending on energy levels....And there is no doing "more" because if you try to do too much, you will pay for it days on end.

Since people who do not have lupus cannot begin to fathom how limiting it CAN be, we cannot blame them for not knowing what they are saying hurts.

So here are some statements Ive heard and a couple comments

-What do you mean, you are tired? You havent done anything today.
For those with lupus/FM, we DO get tired, just doing nothing. You can wake up and just HURT. Every bone, every joint, every muscle. Its just the way it is. We HAVE to accept this.

-You just had a cold, why are you still sick THREE WEEKS later?
Our bodies just have a way of destroying anything...even stuff that makes us better. So while your body is fighting your cold-helping YOU get better, my bodys immune system attacks even the good cells-keeping ME sick.

-What do you mean your cold, injury caused a flare?
See above explanation.

-What in the world is fibromyalgia? Ive NEVER heard of that!
Simple explanation- aches and pains everywhere, anywhere, at any time for any length of time. Your body just HURTS.

-What do you mean you have insomnia? I thought you said you were tired!
Well, I cant say that I understand this myself...all I know is that there are times when I lay in bed all night long, tossing and turning - never have slept before the alarm goes off.

-What? Youre not going to come to _______ to see us?
Sorry guys. If I cant come, its because the total drive time involved takes a toll on my energy levels and soreness. Did you really want me to come and hurt all night - wanting to lay down?

-I know someone who has lupus and they are hardly ever sick. Whats wrong with you?
Everyone who has lupus is different. The disease may manifest itself as a rash, arthritic pain, cramping, UV sensitivity... More serious cases of lupus even include organ failure-mostly kidneys. Also note, not all people with lupus have symptoms during periods of remission.

Im sure I could list more....but I think you get the drift.

I was diagnosed after the birth of my son (now 13) and an experience with a pulmonary embolism that Id rather forget (rather, I have no recollection of). Ive had a mix of flares and remissions during that time, recently going 6 years almost symptom free.

I have learned that I do not have to make excuses for how I feel. I choose to educate those who are either misinformed or just dont understand. Even after 13 years, there are things I do not fully know the WHY or HOW.

And yes, there are days when I feel up to doing something -like cleaning - its just more enjoyable to surf the internet or jam out with Guitar Hero!

Cant be all bad because, According to GH, I rock!
And.....Im still the GH queen in this house...but I gotta practice because Matts catching up!

For those of you still waiting on my Lost theory - Part One will be posted Monday, Part Two Tuesday, Part Three Saturday. I promise you will want to go re watch it from the beginning to see if Im spot-on!

Gray area too large

If you click on the title, it will take you to a local school newsletter. I would like for you to turn your attention to page 5, where you see a "warning" concerning energy drinks.

Now, I completely understand why there is cause for concern regarding drinks like: Monster-Amp-etc

My issue is that on the bottom of this flyer-there is contact information for a drug abuse hotline.

This leads me to believe that there will be a HUGE gray area, in the way caffeinated beverages are seen in Carroll County Public Schools. Will they, at some time in the future, BAN beverages like: Mountain Dew, Coke, Coffee, tea?

If these products are FROWNED upon, will be still be seeing a coffeemaker in teacher's lounges?

Build up - not tear down

Lets be honest...you all know Im conservative. You all have your own opinions on what you think conservative means.
BUT, Ill give you a clue on how THIS conservative feels.

I am disgusted and repulsed about those "fellow" conservatives who feel that just because Obama won the Presidency, they need to "impeach" him.

First of all, how do you impeach someone who hasnt even took their oath of office?

None the less, the election process is done...finished....complete.
No matter who we voted for-we must get behind the one who DID get elected.

This means:

1-Stop calling for him to be impeached
2-Stop saying he is a muslim (most muslims that I know, are proud and wont deny)
3-Stop blaming specific people for the loss
4-Start praying for ALL who got elected
5-Pray harder for those you disagree with
6-Make sure you make your voice heard in a respectful and polite way
7-For my gop friends, instead of tearing each other down, build each other up

Oh, heres another one: STOP SAYING HE IS THE ANTICHRIST!
I wont even start here.

There are even some people who are "hoping" that something bad happens to the President-Elect. Apparently these people are not only racist but anti-American as well. It is never good for a country to have its leader hurt. In this case, there is a possibility of a civil war...and our country cannot afford to be divided at this historic time.

I want to congratulate Barack Obama-the MAN.
He fought the odds.
To my My african american friends, I congratulate you as well. Many of you who were apathetic got involved and are now seeing the fruits of your hard work.

I wish President-Elect Barack Obama well. I will continue to pray for him and his family along with our country. I would hope that those I know would join me.

I have been organizing my photos since mid-October. So far, Im up to 2003. Not bad. Definately an improvement in the area they are contained.

Im looking ahead to 2009 and wondering what areas of my life need a kick start.

my post-election analysis-it isnt Sarah Palin's fault!

Well, I decided to give the election a few days to sink in before doing my own analysis.

Congratulations are in order
First of all, congratulations to President-Elect Barack Obama.
Here's my take on his win and the republican loss:

This election was historic-no matter which side would have won. We would have the first black president or the first woman vice president. This fact alone brought out voters in droves.

Get out the vote!
The grass roots effort of the democrats was overwhelming. Ive seen those that I know who are mostly apathetic- perform voter registration drives, make phone calls and donate money to Obamas campaign. I dont beleive that if Hilary Clinton would have won the nomination, this grass roots effort would have been so large.

Meanwhile, the republican party also has an amazing base. Most do not realize this fact, because in most states, democrats outnumber republicans two to one.

Why the GOP lost
Republicans were split on MANY levels during this election cycle..."true conservatives" did not think McCain was conservative enough to represent the party, and he was "forced" to pick an unknown governor from Alaska as his running mate. I say McCain was forced to pick Palin because other names that were floated around were also viewed as not conservative enough (i.e. social issues)

Palin, while some thought she was not qualified, brought conservatives back to the party again. McCain enjoyed a boost in fundraising after picking Sarah Palin. As a matter of fact, many republicans werent even "paying attention" anymore until the pick of Palin was revealed.

We are done with HER! Lets rip her to pieces!
What is so surprising is now that the democrats won, republicans are now ripping Sarah Palin to pieces in the media. Werent they just complaining about how the democrats were treating Sarah Palin?

What I REALLY want to know
Had the republicans won, what would they be saying about Sarah Palin then?

Paging Senator McCain......
Why havent we heard from John McCain? Why isnt he defending her? Didnt HE pick her as HIS running mate?

Double standard?
How is it- that if democrats make a mistake (i.e. Biden & Obama) its just that....but if a republican makes a mistake, they are criticized beyond belief? (it makes me think how far I would really go in politics!!!)

Why the democrats won
1) President Bushs approval rating is in the hole.
2) Sheer numbers
3) Rumors
4) Slumping economy

Heres a short explanation of each:
1- President Bush started his Presidency with democrats coming off a tough loss. From there, we had 9/11 and the wars that occurred in the aftermath.
2- As stated above, democrats outnumber republicans two to one (in some areas, four to one)
3- Rumors abound concerning those involved in republican politics. (i.e. pregnancy of the vp candidates daughter)
4- Our economy is in trouble. Our deficit has grown by disgusting amounts - and this is also blamed on our current/outgoing administration.

Heres to the next four years
I do sincerely congratulate Barack Obama. I think he has accomplished something that most beleived would NEVER happen. Kudos to him for that.

Most of you know that I disagree with most of his agenda-
I also want EVERYONE of you to know that I have been praying for him and his family ever since I realized that he would be elected. I want NO harm to come to him.

I think those that wish to harm those who they disagree with, do not understand what it is to BE AN AMERICAN.

I am sickened by those who already want to "impeach" Obama and want to be friends of mine because they beleive that just because Im a conservative, Ill agree with them. This man hasnt even begun his term yet!

Here is a simple way to PEACEFULLY disagree.
Pray for the conversion of that person's heart.
Make a phone call expressing your concern about the issue. BE POLITE!
Write letters expressing your concern about the issue. BE POLITE!
Write letters to the editor about the issues. BE POLITE!

My year in review

So, I did my part and voted today- Have you?

I have had quite an exciting year. Im doing this from Nov-Nov because thats about the time frame involved.

So, last year - mid October-ish....after going to a race at Lincoln (missed all but 2 races because of my back-and were skipping my year of pain and recovery) -- Frank and I started our weekly routine. That Monday, I came in from work and Frank said-"know what Im thinking?"

I replied, "Sell the house, move to PA?"

Well, the PA part is just a dream still, but I was dead on on the selling/moving idea.

So, by this time last year, we were painting, boxing, storing -to prep the house to show. BTW, our real estate agent---WONDERFUL and gets the job done! (Dont ride in a car with him tho) In two weeks, we had prepped and were showing the house.

Within 6 days, we knew we had an offer-we were asked to have the furnace and all checked-to see how much it would cost to convert into Central Air....(that was about $5,000) After careful consideration, we beleived that with the housing market facing what they were, we should adjust the asking price, and we were signing a contract on that 9th day.

So, last Thanksgiving, we were taking a vanload and truckload of stuff to the new place.....which, I should also tell you- we couldnt look for a new place until the house was inspected. (like one week) So we found the place and moved within that 2 week period.

We did have our usual Christmas here tho...Franks parents, brother, gmother, aunt and uncle. We moved into a wonderful house that has enough room for all of us to sit comfortable in the living room as well as in the dining room.

And this Halloween? My friends in Arbutus would be bored. Not ONE trick or treater! I was so relaxed, not having to walk anyone around or keep a handful of candy on me at all times...(For those of you not in Arbutus-we started at a measely 2 bags of candy....and we quickly learned that our neighborhood was a 12-pounder.)

I was able to watch a movie, uninterrupted. And then-go to bed!
And how nice, not to see parents dressing up their kids to beg for candy! Every rule I learned as a child was allowed to be broken on Halloween....not walking over someones lawn, not talking to strangers, not going to unknown houses.

Since the move I have:

----learned things I NEVER knew about cows (some I wish I didnt know)
----joined a wonderful church
----been elected Secretary of the PTO (PTA)
----truly downsized
----RELAXED
----I dont hear trains, fire engines, ambulances, police cars
----I dont see brick, roads
----I dont have a crazy neighbor who calls the cops 3 times on a 10 year olds birthday party because bubbles hit my fence

Brilliant video concerning our economy

As an Economics major, I am surprised by how many people do not understand how our "money" equals debt.

Please take 47 minutes out of your day to watch this video on how the banking system REALLY works. Yall want real change? Do something to change THIS before it collapses and we have nothing!

I am reminded of a poster that hung in the copy room at a previous employer.

"I once dreamed of starving on this salary!"

Who among us hasnt said that they would be better off making more money an hour? I once made minimum wage and I used to think making $10 an hour would be so much easierand and -- then I made $10 an hour! Are you really better off?

One of the highest paid jobs that I had ($24 an hour with great bennies) was really the worst place I worked at. The money was fantastic, but the working environment lacked personality.

I left that place to work for the Lord. Now granted, we all cant work for a church-but its easier to make less money (and work less hours) than deal with the stress of a job that is unsatisfying.
