Democrats-Republicans = Same thing

Just a little mini-rant here.

Why is it that so many people want to beleive that one party is better than the other? Honestly, there is no difference....

Lets take a few examples:

Former Pres. Bush implemented the Patriot Act. Many were flabbergasted at this violation of privacy. When now Pres. Obama was Senator, he was against this....now, he has continued the Patriot Act....hmmm

Former Pres. Bush was accused of putting our soldiers in harms way for two "illegal" wars in the Middle East. And....Our current Pres. has continued them.

Can someone tell me what exactly is the difference here?

Facebook memorializes those who have passed

If you click on the title, you will be able to read the AP article regarding Facebook memorializing those who have passed.

And here is my take: I think Facebook as well as other sites, have really stepped up to the plate. For those of us who are irked when we see those "Friend Suggestions" it is hard for some when they show those who have recently passed.

To have a page memorialized, you must contact facebook and send them obituary - as well as other information to insure your not just messing around or playing a joke on someone.

As someone who has lost 3 friends who were also linked thru myspace, facebook and twitter - I can say this is absolutely wonderful news.

Mumps in Brooklyn NY?

Roughly 57 cases of mumps occurred in the Brooklyn NY area, beginning in August.

What is most important to note is that 75% of those who got mumps WERE vaccinated.

Most of my friends know that Im anti-vaccine, but when you do have your child vaccinated....shouldnt you have protection against diseases?

The White House tries to ban FoxNews

It amazes me that politicians are stating that FoxNews should be banned. The current administration is attempting to demonize the network.

No matter what your view on any network is....it seems odd that you should exclude them from a press conference of any type. Imagine if former President Bush attempted to do this with CNN or MSNBC. I wasnt a "fan" of Bush, but I can say that he did speak with all the networks. Why is it that this administration refuses to do so?

This type of behavior should not be tolerated and I am glad that the other networks stood their ground. Im sure they realize that once you make the precedent of banning one organization, you leave yourself open to be banned as well.

Motive for family on Wife Swap?

Video from Larry King Live (Wolf Blitzer interviews family) linked in blog title

Now, I was sitting at home watching cable news yesterday afternoon when the amazing "drama" unfolded. I was riveted to my tv for about 2 hours watching this UFO shaped hot air balloon flying across the Colorado sky.

It was beleived that a 6 year old child was in this balloon until it landed approximately 70 miles from his home. The child, Falcon, was not in the balloon. A search of the areas he flew over as well as a search of his home was conducted. Reports said, police and the family searched the home at least 3 times over, to no avail.

On twitter and facebook, the world prayed that this child did not fall out of the balloon. We hoped he was hiding at his home. Amazingly, he was hiding in a box in the attic of his familys garage.

As the drama unfolded, we were told this family appeared on the show Wife Swap (which I do not watch) Alot of the talk seemed to state that since this family was used to the media, that maybe they were doing it for attention....I withheld opinion.

And now, after seeing this video, it seems like the "haters" were right. This child, who is only 6, couldnt have said it clearer....and then his parents were quick to change the subject.

What does that tell you?

This is plain ole racism

I am known to surf the web, and I blog about things that catch my eye....This story is no exception. I didnt blog on this yesterday when I saw it, because I needed to think of a way to phrase my words. Those who know me, realize that sometimes what I say can be misconstrued.....so, anyway, if you havent read the above linked story (which is linked thru the blog title) Heres the jist:

A Louisianna justice of the peace refused to marry an interracial couple. He claims that interracial marriages dont last and is concerned for the children involved.

MY TAKE: My first thought is this dude is off his rocker...I still think this, but for totally different reasons. If this is truly is thought, why is he marrying anyone? Isnt the statistic 50% of all marriages end in divorce? If the concern is truly for this reason, he needs to be in another line of work.

Yes, it is a sad fact that marriages end. And yes, it is sad that sometimes children are damaged by divorce.

However, by denying this couple from getting married, he shows his racism. His concerns are no more founded than this simple fact.

QUOTE:
Bardwell said he has discussed the topic with blacks and whites, along with witnessing some interracial marriages. He came to the conclusion that most of black society does not readily accept offspring of such relationships, and neither does white society, he said.

"I don't do interracial marriages because I don't want to put children in a situation they didn't bring on themselves," Bardwell said. "In my heart, I feel the children will later suffer."
END QUOTE

Uh....WHAT!!!!! Alot of children are made to suffer and they are products of -for a lack of a better term- traditional marriages. Im sure my children would say that they "suffered" because we werent well off, or that I was too young....you name it.

I know several interracial couples and most have children. Now, I aint saying that there arent some ignorant people, but for the most part, his reasoning just dont make sense.

This justice of the peace has broken the law by denying this couple their right to get married. Even if you personally dont like the idea, it is NOT against the law.

The article goes on to say that they are looking into filing a discrimination suit. GOOD-and I hope they win.

The NFL vs Rush Limbaugh

If you werent aware, Rush Limbaugh was part of a group attempting to buy the Rams. What has happened since....can be called a smear campaign.

Even if you dont like the man, or agree with him - look at this fact....How many NFL owners do you like? There are many NFL teams in which the ownership-well...sucks. I can name two teams that I dont particularly like the owners (Redskins and Cowboys)

So, players wont play if he was part of the ownership? Grow up! Well, the damage was done and the group removed him....way to stand up.

How about the fact that many teams have players that have been arrested? You only have to look at the Dallas Cowboys in the early 90s to see some of those stories...what about Vick? This man ran a dog fighting business...he has spent time in jail and was welcomed back to the league with open arms.

So an animal hater can be part of the league, but not a conservative? Isnt this America?

Awww Roman Polanski is depressed

QUOTE: Reuters – Director Roman Polanski is feeling depressed two weeks after his arrest in Switzerland to face U.S. extradition for a 1977 case involving the rape of a 13-year-old girl, his lawyer was quoted as saying on Sunday.

"I found him to be tired and depressed," Herve Temime told the Sonntag newspaper, one of two newspapers he talked to after visiting the Oscar-winning director in a Zurich prison.

"Roman Polanski, who is 76, seemed very dejected when I visited him," Temime told another newspaper, NZZ am Sonntag.

"Polanski was in an unsettled state of mind."

END QUOTE

My take: This man assaulted a child. This man drugged a child in order for said assault to occur. He was found guilty and he should have spent his entire life in jail instead of walking around free making millions off his movies.

The Hollywood Elite seem to forget that this man is an ANIMAL. I dont care how many movies the man makes.....I dont even care if they are good or not. Go to jail, go directly to jail - and hey.....ROT THERE

So what if this man is depressed and dejected! He ruined a childs life and innocense. Yes, she has forgiven him....but that does not disqualify him from having justice served.

I hope hes unhappy-dejected-depressed and unsettled.

Why not post a picture of this person in the cell with him that way he can rot there while being reminded of how horrible he really is?

Long and winding road

Its as if it never ends....from June until now, Ive been riding this rollercoaster. Normally, I would tell you that I loved rollercoasters, but this one....just isnt fun.

I am counting my blessings because the chemo has halted the damage to my heart...I still have the swelling, but it isnt advancing. I am grateful for that. My kidneys are in a similar situation....no more damage, its running about the same.

However, an issue similar to one I experienced in 2007 as we were selling the house and moving from Baltimore to Carroll County has resurfaced. However, without placing too much blame, the original diagnoses was wrong.

What this was originally diagnosed as was a branchial cleft cyst. This is not so.
This is a growth - a nodule on my thyroid. Im not really a vain person, but having a HUGE lump on your neck can be distracting to say the least....

I still have to speak to those in my family to discuss the various options. Ive sat here to about 3 hours running the conversation thru my mind.

I just ask for prayers.
